Maxim Sokolov - SokolovTech Azure and DevOps blog

About SokolovTech

SokolovTech is my technical blog where I write about practical Azure, DevOps, infrastructure automation and cloud platform engineering topics.

Most of the content is based on real problems, experiments, proof-of-concepts, troubleshooting notes and lessons learned while working with Microsoft cloud technologies.

The focus of this blog is not theory for the sake of theory. I try to document how things actually work in real environments, including the decisions, trade-offs, mistakes, fixes and operational considerations that are often missing from polished documentation.

What I write about

  • Azure platform engineering and cloud infrastructure design
  • Infrastructure as code with Bicep, ARM templates and Terraform
  • Azure DevOps pipelines, Git repositories and deployment automation
  • Identity, RBAC, secure access controls and cloud governance
  • Monitoring, logging, backup, recovery and operational readiness
  • Microsoft 365, Azure Virtual Desktop and hybrid infrastructure
  • Azure AI services, AI Foundry, agentic AI concepts and AI-ready platform patterns

Why I write

I use this blog as a place to organise technical notes, share practical examples and document solutions that may help other engineers working through similar Azure and DevOps challenges.

Some posts are step-by-step guides. Some are opinionated engineering notes. Others are experiments where I explore a technology, test an approach, or document what worked and what did not.

My perspective

My background is in Azure cloud, DevOps and infrastructure consulting, so I usually look at technology from a delivery and operations point of view.

That means I care about automation, repeatability, secure-by-design access, sensible governance, monitoring, maintainability and handover - not just whether something works once in a lab.

Certifications and learning

I hold a broad set of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Security, Microsoft 365 and VMware certifications. I continue to expand my focus into AI-ready Azure environments, including Azure AI services, Azure AI Foundry, RAG-style patterns, private data access and governed deployment models.
